Why didn’t they know? Should we know?

The prophet Zechariah prophesied that “Your King” would enter Jerusalem riding on a donkey (9:9) and Danial prophesied the exact day of that fulfillment (9:26). Here’s what happened on that very day;

Luke 19:29-44
29. When he drew near to Bethphage and Bethany, at the mount that is called Olivet, he sent two of the disciples, 30. saying, “Go into the village in front of you, where on entering you will find a colt tied, on which no one has ever yet sat. Untie it and bring it here. 31. If anyone asks you, ‘Why are you untying it?’ you shall say this: ‘The Lord has need of it.’” 32. So those who were sent went away and found it just as he had told them. 33. And as they were untying the colt, its owners said to them, “Why are you untying the colt?” 34. And they said, “The Lord has need of it.” 35. And they brought it to Jesus, and throwing their cloaks on the colt, they set Jesus on it. 36. And as he rode along, they spread their cloaks on the road. 37. As he was drawing near already on the way down the Mount of Olives the whole multitude of his disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works that they had seen, 38. saying, “Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord! Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!” 39. And some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to him, “Teacher, rebuke your disciples.” 40. He answered, “I tell you, if these were silent, the very stones would cry out.”
41. And when he drew near and saw the city, he wept over it, 42. saying, “Would that you, even you, had known on this day the things that make for peace! But now they are hidden from your eyes. 43. For the days will come upon you, when your enemies will set up a barricade around you and surround you and hem you in on every side 44. and tear you down to the ground, you and your children within you. And they will not leave one stone upon another in you, because you did not know the time of your visitation.”

In verse 42 Jesus says “If only you had known on this day what would bring you peace! But now it is hidden from your eyes.” His reference to “this day” has this meaning; they should have known what “DAY” it was. Their Holy Scriptures told them what “DAY” it was, the prophets writings in those Holy Scriptures told them the exact “DAY” of this visitation; when their KING would arrive. (Zechariah 9:9 and Danial 9:26)

The people who where leading Israel at that time seemed to be having a grand time of lording it over Gods people, The High Priest, Pharisees, Sadducees and Scribes were enjoying their lofty position of power over the people. Jesus was very clear about His opinion of these leaders; hypocrites, serpents, liars, blind guides leading the blind and a few other choice words.

They weren’t teaching the people Gods word, it seems like they just didn’t believe what the Torah (old testament) said. They loved their extravagant life style more then they loved God. Jesus rebuked them so much and so often that they just wanted to kill Him. Never mind checking out their Holy Scriptures to see if He was who He said He was. They wanted Him gone. Like the leaders said in John 11:48 “we are in danger of losing our place”.
V.48 “If we let him go on like this, everyone will believe in him, and the Romans will come and take away both our place and our nation.”
That’s what was important to them. Their lifestyle !!! It was clear in the Scriptures in that day and they paid no attention to what was written, and it is still clear today.

We are living in the very end of the end days that the Bible speaks of. And it seems that the a few religious leaders of the Christians are doing the same thing; not believing what is written in Gods word. Seems that very few pulpits are teaching the people of God about the time in which we live. There seems to be a host of denominations and spiritual leaders that are only interested in the social gospel of “live and let live”. They wish only to coddle people who reject salvation in Jesus alone. It’s right to help people, Jesus helped whom ever He could. But He still called sin sin. And told all who would listen that He was the only way to God the Father. Doesn’t seem like much has changed, some religious leaders are still rejecting the Bible.

Now we have in the western world, (the E.U. and north America) denominations and some churches that call themselves Christian, that just don’t believe what the Bible says. They essentially are preaching that God will wink at sin as long as they try to do the right thing.
A little “white lie” never hurt anyone. It’s “OK” to have sex outside of a marriage between one man and one woman, as long as it’s consenting adults, God will understand.

Who’s guide lines are they following, theirs or another person? Certainly not the Bible. It will be a sad day when they stand before God at the judgement. If this is you, please stop it and start telling people the truth. God does not wink at sin. He sent Jesus to pay the penalty for sin and He will only except people that come to Him the way He has said. And that is through the blood that drained from the body of Jesus on the cross. He was not guilty of any sin, but we are guilty. God will give us His innocents and take away our guilt, but only if we ask Him.

These preachers are doing great harm to those that listen to them. If you are in a church that isn’t telling you the truth, run away from it as fast as you can and find one where they preach Jesus and Him crucified. A place where the whole Bible is proclaimed. A place that is also telling you about the prophecies in the Bible. A church where they are telling their people what the Bible says about the future.

Bible prophecy helps you stay zealous for God. Because when something happens that the Bible said would happen, your heart is assured that everything God said will happen just like He said it would. Read this verse and be assured.
Is 46:10 Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure
We have some of the Old Testament prophecies that are still in our future, and we have numerous New Testament prophecies that will shortly come to pass. Jesus told us about some of the signs to look for. (Matt. 24, Mark 13, Lk 21) Each and everyone of them point to the soon return of Jesus to this Earth to set up His rule and reign as the King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

Some say Bible prophecy is to convoluted to get involved with, or it’s to hard for the congregation to understand. Even some have said they are “Pan” about Bible prophecy; “it will all pan out in the end”. The Bible was about one third future prophecy when it was written. We have seen throughout history that what God said about the future did come to pass. There are several prophecies that have taken place in recent history and some that are taking place right now. Has your preacher been telling you about these?

Israel become a nation after 2000 years of being out of their land. Did you know that in the Bible God said it would happen? How about this prophecy that is happening at this very moment, all the Jews from around the whole world are being called by God to go home to Israel. You can read about these in another article I wrote on this website. Now lets see some verses that are happening now that we haven’t looked at;
2 Timothy 3:1-7
1. But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty. 2. For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3. heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, 4. treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5. having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. Avoid such people. 6. For among them are those who creep into households and capture weak women, burdened with sins and led astray by various passions, 7. always learning and never able to arrive at a knowledge of the truth.

As we read these verses it’s easy to see the E.U. and North America being described. However everyone is a sinner so I’m sure these verses are speaking of all the countries of this world.

Verses 5 and 7 are speaking about those religious leaders that I wrote about above. This is why if you attend a church that is like that, leave and find one that truly believes in God and His Word the Bible. A Church where sin is called sin. There are no perfect Churches but there are good ones, you just have to look to find them. Find one that speaks to the urgency of the time in which we are living. One that sees the signs of our time as prophesied in the Bible. That Jesus’ return is near and He will soon come and get His own before the seven years of tribulation. I’m sure some reading this will say that I’m wrong, that I don’t know what I’m talking about. To them I give these verses;
2 Peter 3:3-4
3. knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, 4. and saying, Where is the promise of his coming?
God is patient, but one day He will say, our time is up!
Please ask Jesus to be you’r savior and walk with Him the rest of your life. You won’t be sorry.
