Gods Calling on the Jewish People
When and Where it Started
Genesis 12:1-7 (KJV) (Please read the whole chapter)
1. Now the Lord had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee:
2. And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:
3. And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.
4. So Abram departed, as the Lord had spoken unto him; and Lot went with him: and Abram was seventy and five years old when he departed out of Haran.
5. And Abram took Sarai his wife, and Lot his brother’s son, and all their substance that they had gathered, and the souls that they had gotten in Haran; and they went forth to go into the land of Canaan; and into the land of Canaan they came.
6. And Abram passed through the land unto the place of Sichem, unto the plain of Moreh. And the Canaanite was then in the land.
7. And the Lord appeared unto Abram, and said, Unto thy seed will I give this land: and there builded he an altar unto the Lord, who appeared unto him.
It all started when Abram’s father, Terah, left Er of the Chaldeans.
Genesis 11:31 (KJV) (Please read the whole chapter)
31. Terah took Abram his son and Lot the son of Haran, his grandson, and Sarai his daughter-in-law, his son Abram’s wife, and they went forth together from Ur of the Chaldeans to go into the land of Canaan, but when they came to Haran, they settled there.
It says here in verse 31 they set out to go to the land of Canaan to begin with. This is where God wanted them to go, but they settled in Haran. Abram knew he was supposed to go to the land of Canaan so he left his father and went, because God told him to in Genesis 12:1
1. Now the Lord had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee:
When he finally got there God appeared to him and gave him this promise ( Genesis 12:7 And the Lord appeared unto Abram, and said, Unto thy seed will I give this land: and there builded he an altar unto the Lord, who appeared unto him.)
This is where Abram was called to, to a land that was given to him by God. The land of Canaan. Which is the land of Israel today.
Genesis 22:15-18 (ESV) (Please read the whole chapter)
15. And the angel of the Lord called to Abraham a second time from heaven 16. and said, “By myself I have sworn, declares the Lord, because you have done this and have not withheld your son, your only son, 17. I will surely bless you, and I will surely multiply your offspring as the stars of heaven and as the sand that is on the seashore. And your offspring shall possess the gate of his enemies, 18. and in your offspring shall all the nations of the earth be blessed, because you have obeyed my voice.”
This is none other then a prophecy of the Jewish Messiah, which we know to be Jesus. A fulfilled prophecy that is nothing to be sneezed at. It is to be rejoiced over, because God sent mankind His savior for all the nations of the world through the lineage of Abram. Because one man, (Abram) listened, and obeyed God and now everyone on Earth can be saved. God is still fulfilling this promise today.
The next two chapters and verses we show below, is Gods love for the Jewish people, and there are multitudes more we can sight, but these well suffice. This is showing us Gods plan in action to bring His savior to mankind. It is through the lineage of the Jewish people that the Messiah came. Which means Jesus is a Jew.
Deuteronomy 7:6-10 (ESV) (Please read the whole chapter)
6.“For you are a people holy to the Lord your God. The Lord your God has chosen you to be a people for his treasured possession, out of all the peoples who are on the face of the earth. 7. It was not because you were more in number than any other people that the Lord set his love on you and chose you, for you were the fewest of all peoples, 8. but it is because the Lord loves you and is keeping the oath that he swore to your fathers, that the Lord has brought you out with a mighty hand and redeemed you from the house of slavery, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt. 9. Know therefore that the Lord your God is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments, to a thousand generations, 10. and repays to their face those who hate him, by destroying them. He will not be slack with one who hates him. He will repay him to his face.
Deuteronomy 10:14-15 (ESV) (Please read the whole chapter)
14. Behold, to the Lord your God belong heaven and the heaven of heavens, the earth with all that is in it. 15. Yet the Lord set his heart in love on your fathers and chose their offspring after them, you above all peoples, as you are this day.
The whole of the Old Testament is really about Gods plan for all people every born, and the devil has tried to fight God the whole time. The devil is always trying to stop Gods plan from taking place, but he has always failed at doing so.
The Jewish nation was supposed to show the rest of the world God’s love. But instead they turned inward, instead of showing who God really is. God brought the Church into being on the day of Pentecost, so that the Church could show the world God’s love. The church turned inward also and that’s why we have so many different denominations. But God is still ruling in the affairs of man.
The Church was part of God’s plan all along as shown by the “mystery” that Paul speaks about in his epistles. All the revelations that Paul received came out of the Old Testament. The Church and the Jews are supposed to show the world, Gods savior. Are we doing it?
We see the Jewish people always going astray as we read the Old Testament and we think “how can they do that?” But how about us, we do the same things they did. We also chase foreign gods, we may not call them gods but if these things take our hearts away from God, then that becomes a god to us.
Another thing of great importance to look at, is the astronomical rise of antisemitism in the world today. We even have Christians that are joining the bandwagon of hating the Jewish people. In the verses above, we read that God loves the Jewish people. One must take to heart Deuteronomy 7:10 above, because God is serious about the salvation of mankind through His chosen people. Matthew 25 is about how people and nations have treated the Jewish people and they’re judgment.
If you have an antisemitic heart, you are hating someone that God loves. Are you not then being belligerent towards God? If God loves the Jewish people how can you as a Christian hate them? As a Christian we must love whom God loves and He has said He loves the Jewish people (Deuteronomy 7:7;10:14) We don’t have to agree with what they do or don’t do, but it is our duty as a Christian to love them because God does, and of course everyone else. Other people have done things we may disagree with and yet we do not hate them, so why the Jew?
Gods calling on the Jewish people has never changed. They will fulfill what God has called them to do. We read about that in Revelation 7
Revelation 7:3-9:13-14 (KJV) (Please read the whole chapter)
3. Saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads.
4. And I heard the number of them which were sealed: and there were sealed an hundred and forty and four thousand of all the tribes of the children of Israel.
5. Of the tribe of Juda were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Reuben were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Gad were sealed twelve thousand.
6. Of the tribe of Aser were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Nephthalim were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Manasses were sealed twelve thousand.
7. Of the tribe of Simeon were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Levi were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Issachar were sealed twelve thousand.
8. Of the tribe of Zabulon were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Joseph were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Benjamin were sealed twelve thousand.
9. After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands;
13. And one of the elders answered, saying unto me, What are these which are arrayed in white robes? and whence came they?
14. And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.
This is the time when the calling on the Jewish people will shine the brightest. They will at this time fulfill what God originally called them to do, showing God’s love to the entire world. Versus 4 through 8 above show that they are indeed Jewish people. Verses 9,13, and 14 tell us that a multitude of people are saved through their ministry, thus fulfilling the calling that God gave to the Jewish nation.
Are you saved? If not, it is easy to be saved, God has done everything for you already. Just ask Jesus to be your savior and He will be. All you have to do is ask and then live the rest of your life for Him.
